There’s a possibility that you could. Some of my favorite dancers started “late” as dancers and they dance just as beautifully as some girls that have been dancing since they were three years old (misty Copeland obviously is a fav and Scout forsythe).
Personally I believe you can do it if you have the right mentality. You must push yourself to become better every single day. Dancing professionally isn’t like any other career, it’s a competition constantly. Professional dancers live and breathe dance, and that’s what sets them apart. It’s definitely a challenge to want to dance professionally after starting late, but it’s definitely possible.
I started dancing seriously (by that I mean quitting competitive dance and switching to ballet) when I was 13 and was seriously considering going professional. What stopped me though, was the realization that I loved to dance, but I wasn’t as dedicated to it. There were other things I came to realized I loved more, and I didn’t have the same drive that professional dancers have. (There were other reasons as well, but that was one of the main ones.)
Long story short: yes it’s possible. Very very very hard work and dedication is what will get you there.

If you love ballet, do ballet.

It’s never to late! I feel like I get this question all the time, and people should never be hesitant to join. Ballet in and of itself is great exercise for the body. It’ll help with flexibility (which will be a blessing when you get older) and strength. Age shouldn’t stop you from doing ballet! Professionally is a different story, but that’s still possible as well.

Look into colleges that offer your chosen math major & have a dance department. You can minor in dance or take classes for the non-major. (This advice may only be applicable to universities in the U.S.). You can also look at colleges that have a solid dance school nearby at which you can take open classes. Enjoy!
The world’s major ballet companies are making huge efforts to hold on to the past and the so-called Ballet Blanc - dances from the 19th Century with an ethereal element, where the dancers are costumed in white, and were traditionally performed by white-skinned people.
Do ballet companies today want to be part of the contemporary society we live in? If the answer is yes they need to start to look a little more like that society.

Hi! I’m so glad you’re enjoying something new, that’s great just in & of itself. It’s pretty unlikely that a newcomer would be a flexible as someone who has practiced ballet or gymnastics for the better part of their lifetime. Give yourself some credit; you’ve just started! Stretching is meant to be gradual & gentle. It will take time, as do most things that are worth doing. Keep up with it if it brings you joy, it doesn’t have to “go anywhere!” Take classes, be kind to yourself, & love the journey. If you’re feeling stagnant, you could try adding in some yoga &/or Pilates classes as well. Luck!
